Medinaat al-Salaam is Farouk's love. His duty to it wakes him up earlier than most and keeps him up later than he should be most days. It keeps his boots worn and his wits bent towards its protection. The people of the city are dangerous, wicked, and at times brutal. But they are his to protect. How else could it be, if Farouk has been so trusted at his young age with a high ranking position in the guard for his valorous deeds.
Within the city he gained some measure of fame for having survived and driven off an attack upon the New Oasis Theatre, back during the recent skirmishes between the Dahabi (and to the knowledge of a smaller portion of the city, Assassins). That is also where he gained the wounds that he carries to this day; nearly one-half of his body being covered in burn scars from where he hung above the fire until his brethren in the City Guard pulled him from the wreckage of the Theatre's cat walk.
He speaks warmly, his tone and look often a comfort for those in distress. Other members of the City Guard have in the past given him the nickname "Fish." After his recent promotion, its unknown if the rank and file of the guard will earn his ire by calling him such or not.
Most days he is dressed in a gray burnous, the dress uniform of the Qadi (City Guard), that denotes him as a Senior Officer of the City Guard. Heraldry skill would reveal he is a guard assigned to the River Quarter (the quarter the Palace is in.) Possibly a reason he has been trusted with an invitation to the Palace. A light blue keffiyeh with geometric patterns of a black adorns his head most days, and within the palace an ornate Khalat, gifted to him by the Caliph, is something he proudly wears with each of his confident steps.
